What Was Planned vs. What Happened: The Beginning of Life.
This is a story of a journey From Bank manager to Immigrant. Every human life is a complete book. In this book, some chapters are filled with joy, some with trials, and some with sorrows. Today, when I look back and reflect, the only thought that comes to mind is: what was planned, what actually happened, what was desired, and what did it turn into?
This story begins with a very simple and innocent young man. Someone told him, “There is an organization that provides loans; go interview there, you will get a job easily.” He gave the interview, passed, and started working.
The salary started coming in, and the household expenses began to run smoothly. However, during this time, the young man’s mother passed away, which completely shattered the entire family. He was broken, and his life began to scatter. Since he was a simple person with no real understanding of office environments or any proper guidance, raised by pure and simple parents, he knew nothing of official principles, corporate politics, or the cunning ways of the world.
As a result, circumstances arose that forced him to leave that job. Then, through a friend who told him about a banking job, he secured a position in a bank.
Clarification: Let me make one thing clear here – – – I am referring to myself. From here on, I won’t write under a fictional name, but I will talk about my own journey.
The Banking Job and the Curse of Usury (Interest)
Life brought some ease with the bank job, but along with it, a massive problem started because of the interest-based system. The job went on, and I climbed the ladder to become a Branch Manager. But inside, my conscience was completely dead. I was earning well, but there was absolutely no peace or blessings in that money. The stress and anxiety grew to the point where I couldn’t sleep at night.
Deep down, I knew I was trapped in the swamp of usury (interest)—something Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) have declared war against. My heart was crying out for freedom, but the fear of losing financial stability kept me stuck. Finally, one day, I gathered my courage, put my trust in Allah, and resigned from the bank job. I decided that I would rather starve than earn from a source that displeased my Creator.
From Branch Manager to a Waiter in a Foreign Land
After leaving the bank, I moved to Qatar in search of halal sustenance. But life in a foreign country is never a bed of roses. Even after arriving in Qatar, I couldn’t find any job for the first four months. My savings were drying up, and desperation was setting in.
Finally, I met a kind-hearted man who got me a job. It was a cleaning job—wiping floors and cleaning up. Gradually, I learned the work. For a man who was looked up to as a Branch Manager back in Pakistan and was highly respected on social media, sweeping floors and holding a wiper in a Qatar warehouse was a massive reality check. But inside my heart, there was a deep, unshakeable sense of peace. Why? Because I was finally far away from the war against usury.
Throughout this grueling phase, my wife stood by me like a rock. She is a true, sincere, and devoted woman who supported me at every single step. One of her phrases carved itself onto my heart, and it gave me the strength to keep going. She said:
“We must never lose hope. We will not give up.”
Her hard work, dedication, and prayers kept our home running, kept me together, and never let my spirit break.
My Ultimate Message: Never Give Up!
Today, when I look at my life from Qatar—having traveled to two other countries and explored the world – – – my heart overflows with gratitude to Allah. He dragged me out of the deadly swamp of interest and showed me the beautiful path of halal earning. From the very day I left that banking job, AlhamduLillah, we have never lacked medicine in our house, nor has anyone ever needed an injection or a syrup bottle. Health and peace returned to my home.
If I can survive these dark phases, stand back up, and find success, then anyone can do it. You can achieve your goals too! No power in this world can stop you from succeeding, provided you ask from your Creator with a sincere heart and maintain the pure intention of earning halal through hard work.
Remember this: never cheat anyone or step on others to get ahead. Those who cheated me and took unfair advantage of my helplessness are still begging and wandering around today, living on deceit. Meanwhile, by the grace of Allah and through honest, hard work, I am leading a beautiful life with my family.
Trials will come, tests will happen, but the ultimate condition is that you must remain sincere to yourself, to your loved ones, and most importantly, to your Creator.
